What is Artistic Wire?

Artistic Wire is actually a brand name for a copper wire that is color coated and then protected with a coating of polyurethane.

The more common Artistic wires that i used are non-tarnish silver plated (copper) wire, Non-tarnish Brass plated (copper) wire, Non-tarnish Natural copper, Bare copper wire, Gunmetal color coated (copper) wire and Brown Color coated (copper) wire.

I rarely use precious metals like sterling silver , gold or rose gold wires due to the higher cost. So for now i will only concentrate on how to care for coated copper wires which are the main materials in my creations. Anyhow, these simple care can be adopted for other jewelry as well although more care maybe needed for the more precious metal.

What is Argentium Silver 930?

Argentium® Silver is a patented and trademarked alloy that is at least 92.5% pure silver, just like traditional sterling. What makes it different from traditional sterling silver is that a small amount of germanium replaces some of the copper that is usually the other 7.5% of sterling silver. Peter Johns, a professor of silversmithing at Middlesex University in England, invented Argentium® Silver in 1996. It is highly tarnish-resistant.
